An exciting opportunity has arisen for highly observant, efficient and self-motivated individuals to play a key role in the safety of others.  It is a diverse role which offers plenty of opportunity to see different parts of the country; no two days will be the same. The position represents a solid career step for anyone with a background in the Fire Service or with extensive experience of buildings assessment.

We are looking to recruit a number of full time fire risk assessors on fixed-term contracts to become part of a successful growing team of dedicated professionals.

Person specification

The ideal candidate will have served in a Fire Safety Department within a Local Authority Fire Service and have completed Fire Safety Modules at Morton in Marsh. Otherwise he/she will be registered on the IFE Fire Risk Assessors Register and have suitably transferable commercial qualifications.

Candidates should have a sound understanding and practical application of the Fire Safety Order and be conversant in working with industry in applying this legislation. Applicants should also have experience of an auditing process, with excellent knowledge of buildings and their structure. A desire to learn is essential, as is the ability to work unsupervised.

The work will involve conducting fire risk assessments in a range of properties, including low level social housing and houses of multiple occupation. Duties will include report writing, using both a PC and a hand-held tablet device, and other tasks commensurate with a role of this stature.

The job will involve travelling to the properties to be assessed, therefore candidates must possess their own car (travel allowance payable) and be confident when it comes to navigation and route planning. The majority of the work will take place within reasonable travelling distance of candidates’ homes, however flexibility is required with regard to occasionally working further afield.
